Interclub Exhibition

16th November 2025

A recap of the game wouldn't be complete without mention of the Arcane Blade Barbers Players of the match.

Both starting catchers for the Outlaws Callum Lyons and the Rangers Neil Edwards put up commanding performances on both sides of the ball to be crowned.

Being just over six months old, this first season for the Outlaws was always going to bring about a number of firsts: the first win, first stolen base, first home run, etc. These things were largely to be expected. However, what wasn’t expected to happen in this short time frame was the first inter-club exhibition game.

On a cold and slightly damp Sunday in November (16th), this milestone too was reached. A continued strong emphasis on recruitment has seen player numbers continue to surpass initial expectations and left us with 24 players available for this fixture. As anyone involved in sports will tell you, the best way to get these new players up to speed is to give them game time. This game represented the first-ever baseball match for five players and just the second or third game ever for several others. The inter-club match was conducted to resemble a 'real' game as closely as possible. It also marked the first competitive outing for the new cow print jerseys; after all, you can’t have cowboys without cows, right?

What followed was an evenly matched and exciting game of baseball. The newly named Rangers took a strong start offensively with four runs in the top of the first, only to see the Outlaws bite back with five of their own. Several shut-down innings from starters Rich Monks and Nathan Joy saw the sides stay within touching distance. The middle innings saw a change of pitcher for the Rangers, with Jack Amphlett brought in to repel the Outlaw bats. Strong fielding from both teams, including a crucial inning-ending double play by the Outlaws, saw the teams close together on the scoreboard.

Strong offense from the Outlaws in the later innings saw them draw out a healthy lead, with closer Callum Lyons shifting from catching to mound to see out the game. A late rally from the Rangers wasn’t quite enough to force the bottom of the seventh, leaving the Outlaws worthy winners with a final score of 11-10.
